Lares Questions

Postby chrisss » Sun Sep 22, 2013 5:41 pm

I have notice very good things about the hybrid and also came across a lot of people talking about the reeds with the call. What with the reed info does that make a difference in the call? I am looking to get one to pair up with my rnt sb and would appreciate more info about the reeds and the call itself. I want something to complement the sb or maybe take its spot for my go to call.

The reeds are cut to certain lengths and those lengths are then wrote onto the reed at the shop, nothing you cant do your self and save some $.
Buy some mylar sheets and go for it.
Longer reed= harder to blow
shorter reed= easier to blow
non dog eared=cleaner sound
dog eared=courser sounds
The Hybrid is a great all around call, excellent range and volume for most hunting situations.

So when they say 1.333 or 1.135 they are talking about the length? Or thickness

Should be length. Thickness usually is 10 mil. or 14 mil.

Yes the measurements are for the length of the cut reed.

Thanks!

I had no idea that this was available (let alone so affordable).

I've heard about guys tuning calls to their satisfaction, but didn't really want to risk ruining a reed in the attempt. Looks like I could get plenty of experimentation out of a few bucks worth of material.

If you have a Joann's Fabrics Store near you,you can pick up a lifetime supply for cheap as well.

I've bought sheets of it and it works just as good as the higher dollar stuff the call makers sell.
