Cutdown question

Postby tnhunter42 » Tue Oct 08, 2013 1:41 pm

Without all hell breaking loose like typical cutdown posts, what do you guys think about using a cutdown over open water/back water/sloughs?

I thought about getting him to sign my cleavage, but decided against it at the last moment.

It's not working if they can't hear you.

On clear blue bird days use it !
Overcast days it might be to harsh..........your gonna have to try it out for yourself to see if it works or not.
I'm just going by what I have noticed.

Overcast days I use a clean mellow sounding call ,and get a way better response.

I'm typically a normal j frame guy, but I've recently blown some cutdowns and really liked them. Now the question lies in which cutdown to get haha. I'm thinking BSOD Colt or Mondo. Suggestions?

Try some out and figure it out for yourself....I'm partial to a monster but I cut them to perfectly suit the way I call. I've got a few laying around if you want to try one out sometime. All the cutdowns that I know of are good and get the job done, just need to find the one YOU like the best.

The cutdown I blew was one that you cut, actually. I wouldn't mind getting ahold of one of yours as my own. How much do yours run Bryce?

This past saturday, while nothing was flying, we had a debate. Black Monster vs Mondo. So I put a guy 200 yards away on open water and blew both calls the same. He said that the Monster sounded better. Then I moved into the standing timber ,which would damper down the sounds due to the trees. Again he said that the Black Monster sounded better to him. I knew which one was going to sound better simply because the Monsters is mine and the Mondo was his. This was done on public water to which as other guys were walking out, they asked what we were doing. So they were told that we were trying to see which call sounded better at a distance. They too said that the Monster sounded better than the Mondo.

Bryce, thanks again for building a Monster for me.

Hope this helps.

$40-$80 for a monster depending on what you want. You can call me at 870-378-7194 if you have any questions.
