Just bought a bocote short barrel at cabelas and noticed it has a chip right on the end of the tone board. It was the display model so I got it for $60. My question is does this chip affect the sound? Would you send it to RNT and have them replace it?
Nah should be fine. Have a DC with the same looking chip and it still sounds great. I will say this though I put the chip in mine by accident. Didn't come from rnt like that.
Will it affect it enough? Probably not. But when you buy a new call you should expect better quality than that. Being a display model it couldve been dropped or what not. So you probably got what ya paid for. If it wasnt a display model Id say return it. Im sure theyd have no problem sticking a new one in there for ya.
How much different will acrylic sound than wood? I'm looking for a compliment to my MVP and the bocote was such a good price I couldn't pass it up. Maybe I should go acrylic though.
If the looks bother you fill the chip with a matching color wood filler and sand it to match............just be carful not to sand the radius of the tone board down.
