DFB vs BSOD vs Black Monster

Postby Greenhead Rocker » Thu Oct 31, 2013 8:52 pm

Looking at getting a cut down. Mainly looking at the BSOD and Black Monster, but possibly the DFB line as well. Which is the best and why? Also, which cut is better, Ark or La? Thanks.

I've got a DFB and a Black Monster. I like both of them, so I cant really help you there. I can say my DFB is louder. IMO AR cuts are raspier and lower, LAs are smoother and sound more like a regular J frame. Its all about what fits you. My Black Ops all take more air than the rest of my cutdowns, and I'd say the BM takes the least.

That's how I got a 13" pecker.

I had a BSOD Original Cut and still have a Black Monster with Bryce's heavy Arkansas cut. They ran very similarly with the Monster being a little louder and smoother sounding.

Compared to regular calls, the differences in cutdowns is minimal...pick one and learn to use it...you'll be happy any route you go.

Take it for what you will.. Being a newb to cut downs myself.

I can't say anything about the BSOD, cause I've never tried one. As far as the DFB and the BM, (being the only two I've tried) I like the BM better. The BM seems to take less air than the DFB to me, and it seemed I could get better bottom end on the BM. Both have a good sound, but the BM seems to fit me better.

Thanks guys. I appreciate all the responses. Which cut seems to work better for you and what are the merits of each cut? Thanks again.

For me, the AR cut seems to be a better fit for me. I'm not gonna say anything bad about a LA cut, but it seems an AR cut is easier for me. To be honest, I need to give Bryce Decker a shout to give me a little help on the LA cut. The LA cut seems a little harder for me to get the sound I'd like. But.....if could very well be me.
