Both great calls, the Meat will whine and squeal a little more than the XLT....other than that the differences are minimal IMO.

I like the pure meat just a bit better because I really like the extra "hold" it's got built in.

The XLT is my go to call. I run it along with a breaker and a meat hanger. IMO the pure meat has too much whine to it, but it's still a great call. It just depends on what kind of sound you're looking for. Some hunters like the whine and some don't.

the word is that the XLT is one of the best calls but its a little more complex to blow...

My experience with them is that they are very similar. The XLT IMO is a good bit raspier than the PM but both have ducks built in. PM has more hold but the XLT has plenty of hold too. I don't think you can go wrong with either and both make it to the field with me everytime I go. Good luck and have a safe season!!
