Hey guys. I am fairly new to duck calling. I just purchased an rnt short barrel. Looking to add another call to the lanyard here shortly. My echo poly timber wasn't cutting it, so I wanted to get a wider range of tones that a single reed offers. Looking for a loud call to bring the ducks in while hunting open areas. Seen lots of posts about how the mvp is a do it all call from top to bottom end. I can get a brand new one for a fraction of the cost that most retailers offer. For someone who is pretty new to single reeds, would the mvp be a giant leap from the short barrel in terms of difficulty?
No, not at all. I was among those who somehow got it in my head that a "contest call" would be harder to run than most others, but the MVP proved quite the opposite.
Okay. May seem like a silly question, but would it be unwise to buy the ivory version if I am going to hunt with it? Don't wanna flare birds with something on my lanyard!
Mine's barrel is ivory, and the birds apparently either don't see it or like it, because we get to shoot a mess of them.
