Close Range Call

Postby Chris6418 » Mon Dec 09, 2013 9:50 pm

In the market for a close range call. I mainly do a lot of open water hunting (lake) with a little timber ponds and small open ponds mixed in throughout the hunting season. I have a single reed call that I use to lay on for hail, come back, and quacks (for when ducks arent in sight) but I'm looking for something that I can use to convince them to put down the landing gear once they're circling my decoys.

The single reed call I mentioned uses an Echo reed but the Barrel and all was made by a local guy (I like to help out small timers and local people, but I was convinced to buy it when I first blew into it). I'm willing to spend up to 150.00 for the close range call that I'm asking about so give me any recommendations that you guys may have. Thanks in advance.

Rnt old style. Nice bottom end on that call. The next one would be a John Stephens Daisy Slayer. The regular Daisy Slayer could be just as good, just haven't found one yet I equally liked to my JSDS's but I'm still looking.

Appreciate all the feed back, fellas. Still have some Christmas shopping to do before I make this purchase so if anyone else has an input, feel free to post about it

Ducklander troublemaker is a nice soft quiet call. Also a well ran lares hybrid will do it all.
