RNT vs Echo vs Lares vs DLC

Postby WestTNducks » Tue Dec 10, 2013 10:55 am

I am looking to get a new call. Every year I swear I aint gonna buy anymore calls but here I am. I currently have on my lanyard a RNT New Old Style, Rolling Thunder BSOD, and an 8 year old Haydel's coacrylic. The BSOD i typically only bark and do hard feeds with but it works on days and conditions where a normal call won't. I love the Old Style, typically my go to call. Then the haydels... Its old nasty and been chewed up by the dog but it has called in more ducks for me than any other call. It has a unique sound that I personally dont like but those greenheads seem to think otherwise. I hunt a variety of places in West TN, from flooded bean, corn, rice fields to cypress breaks and buck brush swamps. I typically call pretty conservatively because I have seen more damage done from aggressive calling than good. I hunt with some but not heavy competition and over anywhere from 12 to 300 decoys.
The calls I am looking at are RNT Short Barrel or timber hawg, Echo Timber, Lares T-1 or hybrid, DLC QT or LT. Now that yal know everything about my hunting conditions ha. What are yal's thoughts on these calls. If you can, compare them from experience. Also open to more suggestions. I am only interested in one thing, what call will drop them red legs more often

My choice would be the T1 or the Echo Timber

I think for what you want you have te wrong RNTs picked out. A Daisy Cutter is what you want

The Echo Timber is a great call if you like a softer call. IMO with the areas you hunt, I would go with the Echo Breaker. The Breaker has great range from the high to low end sound hunters are looking for. Have both calls on my lanyard, and both will get the job done.

Suggestion: you should be blowing and trying
Out the calls you want to use plus additional
Ones because it is yourrrrr decision not ours..
Ducks respond to two things: the call and the
Caller as far as humans go... What we say will only
Be opinions... Just my .02
