Sanding and finishing inside of duck calls

Postby Outcast-n » Tue Dec 17, 2013 9:06 am

I just turned my first call this week, basically came out pretty good. Just trying to find the best method of finishing
the inside of the call. How much sanding, don't want to lose the fit for the insert. What is a good finish for the inside?
Thanks Rich

Flame polish it, if it is acrylic.

Get yourself some tung oil. It'll work well on all but the oiliest woods. I like Velvit oil but it is not something you'll find in stores usually. Gotta mail order it.

Go over to the THO game call making forum and read for about a week. You'll learn a heck of a lot from a lot of good folks that build a lot of calls, and it'll probably save you from making some rookie mistakes.
