barrel shrunk?

Postby mtessar » Tue Dec 17, 2013 2:30 pm

I have a wood barrel that I got off ebay last year with a poly echo insert in it and it seems to get tighter and tighter everytime I put the insert back in. almost to the point where the insert doesn't fit any more. does anyone know why this is happening or what I can do to un-shrink the barrel?

Wood swells with humidity and moisture. You might try contacting the call maker and see if he is willing to make it right for you.

It depends on how the call was finished. Wood will expand and contract with moisture content as stated, however it shouldn't too much as long as they used good dry wood to start with. I would also contact the maker and see what they will do for you.
