I recently picked up a BG call. I like a raspy call and I've heard some BG's I liked on the net. The call is crisp and responsive but really low pitched. A feed chuckle is fine - a greeting or come-back call just sounds sour and way off pitch. I thought about sending it back but, it was only a $30 call. Any ideas on tuning that might help it? I hate to monkey with the reed but - there is no way it could sound worst or am I going to use it otherwise.

Just trim off VERY small amounts ( the smallest amount you can trim with sharp scissors) off the end or the bottom of the reed until you get where you want to be. If you go too far there are lots of places to get reed material(E-bay--Hut) and make a new one! Make sure that you put whatever curve is in the reed down onto the tone board (ends up facing you) this usually provides the best sound !
Good luck don't worry this will help you learn some about your calls !!!

What call is it?
Get some reeds and start messing around with it.
