Anyone else tried a cutdown reed in a osdc?

Postby EASTTN » Sat Dec 21, 2013 7:32 pm

I trimmed to correct lengtht a extra black monster reed and put it in the full scroll cutter. Had a pretty mean sound and some pop to it anyone else tried this or hunted it?

Not a bad idea (especially in an OSDC)...I would do it if I had some .14 reeds.

After all the sad stories I've seen on these boards about breaking OSDC cork tabs, I believe I'd be very careful about installing a thicker cutdown reed in one.
If you think I'm wrong, you might be right.

So very true Rick. The OSDC has a very high deck height making the tab thin
