Suggestions for loud raspy duck call

Postby 2singles » Wed Jan 15, 2014 7:31 pm

I want to get some input on a loud and raspy duck call. I'm looking for something between an RNT Daisy Cutter and a cutdown call (BSOD original, DFB, etc) What would you suggest? Thanks

Trevor I was just looking at your video on tuning calls and wondering where do you buy the long pieces of mylar and cork and what thickness mylar. I was also looking for a loud raspy call somewhere between the Daisy Cutter and a Cutdown or were you suggesting a Daisy Cutter tuned with more rasp. If so what all can I do to get more rasp from a Daisy Cutter. Thank you for your time.

I just bought sheets of .010 Mylar from plastic companies on the Internet.

Heavier dog ears will give more rasp

What about a mondo? Think it bridges that gap between a dc and a true cutdown. Got to run an elite freak in Jonesboro and it surprised me. Loud and raspy and easy to get soft and quiet.

Forgot about that one. Great call. Had one in white delrin and wish I wouldn't have sold it. Runs a lot like my A-5.

Question on the CCC Throwback, I see they list an original, a small bore and big bore. Which one would you suggest? Im thinking big bore but want to check. I appreciate all the feedback fellas.

2singles. Look for a large bore in hedge.
Its about impossible but if you keep looking, one will surface . Right now Gary started doing acrylic. I haven't tried one yet because my hedge call is magical. Maybe it's me...?
I bet the acrylic are even better. Large bore.

The hedge big bore is LOUD, crisp and one of the raspiest calls I've ever heard yet can still get low with ease. His first run acrylic small bore was true to his small bore sound. Raspy, super ducky and mid range volume. He said his new acrylics are much louder and crisper. I'm hoping its his new version of the big bore. It should be here Monday!

I would invest in the new CCC acrylic for sure. I have 2 of Garys acrylics (the second is on its way), and its just the call your after man. Like aunt betty said too, the original woods are awesome but hard to find. He did it right with his new acrylic though.

So what's up with CCC not doing wood calls now? I went over to his site and saw the notice regarding no wood calls until further notice. I couldn't find out a whole lot about his acrylics. Anyone have a pic of one of Gary's acrylic calls?
