Wood Duck Call

If its a call to call woodies is then Kelly's is great. For a duck call made of wood my vote is for a Committed Custom Call or Darkwing.

Your avatar suggests you're a goose hunter and if that includes specks, you may find the speck call you're already carrying will squeal plenty well enough to toll woodies. Of the "wood duck" calls I've owned, the DC was my favorite, but I've not carried it in years, because speck call I have to carry, anyway, does the trick about as often as I believe it's apt to be done.
If you think I'm wrong, you might be right.

DC here. Not many woodies you going to "call in" as they usually have their mind made up on where they are going.

Care to share? I'm always down for a tip. Don't get me wrong when I go to the woody hole I take my DC wood duck call. But them jokers will pass right over the hole to go to another when some will come like it's the X.

I've been reading and replying to this same post on this site and others for years while I maintain my collection of woodie calls.

I have a reply question- Do any other ducks you call to come in 100% of the time? If so, I obviously suck at calling mallards, and could win every wood duck calling contest in NH.
I love my Kelly Kalls, Muddy Paws, and actually the cheapy Haydels WW90 is pretty fair.
A lot of people like the DC call I know, but I am not one of them.

The question to ask is, do you want a JC reed call or a mylar reed call. Between the reeds each produces its own sound.
