good duck call for $40 or under

Postby duckhunter17 » Sat Aug 06, 2005 10:24 am

i am looking for a good duck call that is 40 dollars or under i already have an RNT quackhead, and like it alot i think that i prefer the single reed. i have never tried a double reed, but have heard that you can get more sounds out of the single so since i already know how to blow one why not stay with it. i want a call that is more of a close in finishing call.

Echo!! The Echo Poly Open Water can do everything and is quite loud. It is my favorite but the timber is nice and will be much quieter.

SGC has a SR called the nasty boy that's a pretty good closer. it doesn't get real loud but has a good rasp to it. it's a little tough to feed call through though. i think it runs about the same as a RNT quackhead.

hth!

Im not sure if the quackhead is more of a open water or timber call as Ive never used one. Get something the opposite so you can cover a whole lot more areas.

P.S. Look into the Echo Series and the Buck Gardner Tall Timber II, another great choice.

thanx for all the info and after reading through this site and others it seems that in this price range that the best calls are the tall timber II and the echo calls. are these the best calls for the price?

You betcha! ...now you have to choose which to get, and that can be tough! If you look around you could get both, $20 bucks each.

Check out EBay...lots of choices for $40 and under. If you hunt small impoundments or timber...get ya an old wooden something...maybey a Faulks, Mallardtone, or Olt. If you hunt open water or windy conditions where a need a little volume...Ive got a new RNT Quackhead that can ring out preatty good...Echo, H&S, and Haydels have some ear drum tweekers as well... It all boiles down to what the dux like that day

I really like the Buck Gardner Calls. The Tall Timber II is a great single reed that has a ducky bottom end and can get loud when you need it to. The Double Nasty II is the best double reed I've ever blown. It blows easy like a double reed, but it has the range of a single reed. Two awesome calls for about $20 a piece depending on if you get the performance or chamionships series.
