Haven't posted in a while been busy took stumps advice and got carlson cd and have been working on my calling but would like some critique please here's the link -cook88
I'm not the best here but I'll try to help. Everyone always has something to say about a reference word and the biggest one that I think helped me was using "what." If you were saying what into the call keep it short and cut it off quick on the T. It sounds to me like your dragging the front part of the sound kind of like going " wwwwwwhattt" which is giving you an odd sound to start with. I hope that helps
Also, I don't know if your using a single or double reed but I've just started learning to blow a single and if I try to blow my call with air that isn't pressurized air, like I'm doing it too easy more or less, it'll sound just like what your doing. So maybe try that. When you do a quack your stomach should be tightening and pulling in forcing air up to get it pressurized to get the correct sound out of the call, it isn't really just blowing harder getting more air through the call. Once you figure out how to get pressurized air things will get better and you'll be able to be loud or soft on the call and have it sound correct
What helped me understand how to get it is try shrinking your mouth up start the quack with your tounge higher set in your mouth. You can force the air out of your stomach as hard as you can till you puke but if your mouth and back of your throat aren't tightened up your not pressurizing anything.
Same advice as what we posted above brother. Just keep trying and you'll get there! If you need clarification on anything that's been said don't be afraid to ask, it's equally difficult to put into words as it is to learn to do but we will certainly try to help. Was that second video of you trying to use "what?"
Yes sir I was doing whaaat whaat what I got the goose short reed down and I use the reference word whooo it whoo it cook
