Browning Gold Hunter safety

Postby LConrad » Fri Nov 06, 2009 12:48 am

Has anyone changed the safety on their Browning Gold to the other side for a left hand shooter? How hard was it to do? For my old Auto 5 I had to have a gun smith find a left hand safety and change it over for me.

I have never tried it. The owners manual says have a competent gunsmith do it and there are no instructions.

i did my sx2...which is a sister gun. it was very very very easy. i think there was just a small snap ring that i removed, switched sides, then popped the snap ring back in. i am not sure if the trigger assembly for the gold is the same as the sx2, but a lot of the other mechanicals are similar.

Thanks, I took the trigger assembly out and it took me about 5 minutes to change it over, pretty easy. You remove the retainer spring, push the detent back up into the trigger housing, then pull out the safety, flip it over and install the detent on the left side then the safety and then the retainer spring above the detent. Pretty straight forward.
