Need SP10 Barrel Work Done

Postby Loose Wire » Fri Jan 20, 2012 3:41 pm

I just picked-up an extra 30" barrel for my SP10's (2). Would like the following work done:

Cut to (about) 25 1/2 "
Reinstall RemChoke threads
Lengthen & polish FC
OB from .780 to .785

Years ago, had Stan Baker do work to my other barrels, 10ga and 12ga. Excellent, but of course he is now retired and reports on the web of his successor are, uh, less then stellar. Called Briley, they do not thread for Remchoke in 10ga, no tap.

Anybody have any recommendations as to who can do the requested work?

Thanks.

You might want to try Kirk Merrington at 1-830-367-2937 , he is a fine barrel maker in Kerrville , Texas . He has done work
for me and I was very happy with the out-come . Good Luck !

Larry Nailon the founder has since passed on. I had them cut a Gold 10 ga barrel and re thread it. They have there own custom longer chokes that can be done to barrel as well. I believe they can also lengthen and polish the forcing cone. 10Tenner

Actually I have some tubes, both 10ga and 12ga, that Larry did for me years ago. Nice tubes, use them regularly for lead and steel. He was a good man and very helpful. I knew he had died but assumed his shop disappeared.

Who took over the shop?

I am not sure who took over. He was one of the pioneers in choke making. I must say when they re threaded the barrel, it was concentric with the bore. 10Tenner

I live only a mile from Larry's shop on Portland Ave. It is all closed up and vacant. It must be tied up in the estate and not yet settled. He also ran a printing company out of the same building.
