870 ejection spring replacement.

Postby lamboicon » Tue Jul 31, 2012 3:32 pm

I have a rem 870 and when I fire a round and I'm pumping a new round in its getting hung up. Well I took the gun apart and cleaned to crap out of it and found that the spring housing is hanging the round. Is it hard to replace the spring. I have ordered parts from midway

Unlike something like a Mossberg 500 where the the spring is in there with a screw the 870 ejector spring is riveted in. You can either send it to remington to have it changed out or buy a deluxe ejector spring staking kit with a rivet cutter ($50 from Brownells). With this you can remove the peened part of the rivet, remove the old spring, seat the new one and re-peen the existing rivet.
