Old 870 20" to 28" barrel help....new hunter

Postby karoglanian » Mon Oct 01, 2012 8:01 pm

I was given my fathers 12g wingmaster 870 with a 20" deer barrel. I want to be able to hunt upland birds so I'm looking to buy a 26-28" barrel. Baisically I'm confused about this "rem choke". Are these interchanchable? I want to hunt upland but would like the option of waterfowl. Can I simply buy a 28" barrel with a few different chokes. or is my only option a fixed choke? Any help would be appreciated

Yep, remchoke is just the name of Remingtons interchangeable choke tube system. Just order yourself a Wingmaster remchoke barrel in the length you prefer and a Modified choke tube you will be good to go for all types of wingshooting. Then you can order other choke tubes later on if you decide that you need more or less choke.

Depending on how old it is, some wingmasters were only set up for 2 3/4 inch shells so even if your new barrel is good for 3 inchers the ejection port in the receiver might not be.
