Winchester Super x2 barrel question

Postby jeepman » Sat Dec 15, 2012 11:58 am

I have a winchester SX2,3" that needs a new barrel. i have scoured the internet and they are impossible to find. In my search i was reading in another forum that the FNH SLP mark1 barrel would fit the Super x2. Will it? they are both owned by browning and both have the invector choke system. does anyone have any experience doing this?

I called Winchester technical support and spoke with Rudy. For the record the Sx3 and SX2 barrels are interchangable as long as they take the same size shell. Hopefully this post will take away any confusion about barrels for these two guns and for those looking for a new barrel for the discontinued super x2.

I called them last week because I am in the same boat but with a 3.5 inch gun. They told me the browning silver barrel is what I need for my sx2. I wonder which it is????

Both the sx3 and the Browning silver barrel will work. Winchester and Browning are both owned by FNH. Another barrel i have read will work, but it is not confirmed by Winchester is the FNH SLP mark1 barrel. From everything i have read about it the two shotguns they are identical.

The X3 has a norrower rib than the X2 IIRC.

It also has a low rib on it. My x2 has a high rib. I love the higher rib..

I'm not quite as concerned about the rib on it as much as i am just getting a barrel for the shotgun. Right now it just a boat anchor until i can get a barrel for it, and X2 field Barrels are pretty much non-exsistant. If you can find one they cost about as much as a whole new/used X2. Thats why i called Winchester to inquire about other barrels that might be compatible.

Thanks Threedogs, I got a barrel from LG- Outdoors for about 175 dollars cheaper though. If anyone is still looking for a barrel for their X2 or3 they still have a few and for resonable prices. I used to like cheaper than dirt for alot of stuff like ammo and some gun parts, but there prices have gone up quite a bit. I might have stayed loyal if their prices were relativly comparable, but they are not even close on alot of their stuff. I think they might be price gouging to capitalise on the gun control hysteria They might have to change their name from Cheaper than Dirt to Pricier than gold.
