new 870 stock not fitting

just bought a brand new 870 wingmaster. its a super mag and i bought a composite stock and fore end to put on it but when iput the stock on it would not snug up to the action and there was a slight gap. any one have this problem? how did you fix it?

I had the same problem with an 870 about 7 years ago. I left the small gap and have had no problems with it. I guess a person could fit it if it bothers you. Mine went in very snug and stopped. I am interested in watching what is posted.

My gunsmith just stopped by and says that is the way it is supposed to be because there is a steel spacer in the back of the reciever to keep it from snugging up and cracking. Just be sure you keep the stock bolt tight and you are good to go.

Do you still have the wood stock bearing in there? (rectangular metal piece with a notch cut out) If so, you need to take it out as it's only used to keep the wood stocks from splitting. Also, If you didn't get a new stock bolt with your composite stock you'll NEED one AND you'll need to buy the compostite stock alignment washer that keeps the bolt alligned correctly inside the buttstock.

dsm i will have to check out the wood washer and i do not have any of the other things you mentioned. ill have to pick those up

thought Remmy quit making the Wingmaster in the supermag ( 3 1/2" ), was my thought, you found a "new" one?
