best mass produced shotgun made?

Postby tako1972 » Wed Jan 23, 2013 1:50 pm

I was wondering if y'all could help me with a question I have as i will soon be purchasing a new shotgun. In general, without regards to price, what you have or can afford, would you say that Berrettas are the the best built mass produced shotguns made. I know some will say they are too expensive but I want to concentrate on fit and finish, dependability and overall quality. i just never hear complaints from Berretta owners. Thanks, happy and safe hunting.

Best has a lot of grey area, as is there are different type shotguns. There is no designated best shotgun made, to ask for some of the best shotguns made I'd go with all 3 B's Beretta, Benelli, Browning. I own Berettas and I would reccomend them to anyone, so will Benelli owners, and Browning owners. Nothing wrong with remington, mossberg, especially nothing wrong with Winchester I just would choose the 3 B's over them with Winchester in a tight race aslong with Franchi.

Thanks Shane!
I realize best is hard to pin down but I feel you can rule out some guns. You are right, there is nothin wrong with Winchesters in my opinion but i think if you had a Winchester in one hand and and a Berretta in the other, in general, you would find more arguments for the Berretta. Fit and finish I guess , dependability , and I seriously don't hear complaints from Berretta owners. Anybody got some? Thanks guys.

Depends if you're talking about the italian made berettas vs beretta USA stuff. Personally I would stick with the italian made, the finish of the Beretta USA stuff is a step or two behind, its sloppy in a nutshell, IMO. Have never shot a Benelli, because the Berettas and Brownings I own have kept me happy over the years.

I have shot benelli's and the SBE2 fit good but man the Vinci fits great, I am a beretta guy I love my Urika and bought an A400 extreme just before this duck season came in and its prob the best shooting gun Ive shot. I really like the gas operated guns more than inertia just soley because why not have a gun that has less recoil and still do the same function, you might sacrafice a little weight but oh well. I have the kick off and stuff on mine never shot one without it. Light loads you feel nothing at all, heavier loads it does not kick hard but you feel it still. As with all guns. Browning wise I really like the maxus, have heard great things about the A5. Like I said I really like Berettas, I think if you were to get one you wouldnt be disappointed just shoulder them and see if its for you. Beretta has the A300 outlander now for a good price really look into that. My A400 cost a lot and its worth the money but I think you can get a gun that can do majority of what it can in the A300 for a lot less.

If your talking all shotguns including pumps then the Ithaca 37 is way ahead of the others.

3 Bs are great i have shot a benelli, beretta and never a browning auto but have shot the citori, i personally love the winchester sx3 i would say its the closest gun to the 3 Bs in the race, not to far behind

Winchester basically is a B gun. Owned by the same company as Browning.

I have been hunting with my BPS for 30 years and never had a breakdown. The mag spring rusted out once and the gold has worn off the trigger, but the mechanism, slide, action, everything is still tight. It just wont take 3 1/2 ''... my only complaint. What a great shotgun.

I believe the best selling Autoloader of all time is the Remington 1100. I the number two spot is the Browning A5. I may be wrong. But as to the best that's opinion. I am a "Remington fanboy" as many would say but I also like Beretta and Benelli shotguns

Browning Auto-5, hands down the best ever made. If any other gun stays in continuous production for 100+ yrs, they might get rotated to the top of the pile.

He said new, I have a couple of NIB Auto-5s in the safe, so I will stand by my answer.

Today, I don't like any of them, including the new Beretta's or Benelli's, none are as reliable as the old Auto-5

If you want to go that route then I vote Model 12 Winchester three inch mag. No rings to change, all steel, will shoot anything you stuff in them. Back in the 50's and 60's guys only cleaned em every year or two, just wiped them off and they always went bang, always.

Took the words out of my mouth. Model 12. Have had dozens. Most reliable and strongest guns ever made. Just have a heavy duck and a 20 ga now. Really don't need much else in the way of hunting guns. Not that I don't have plenty of others! :lol3:
