Model 12 rebuild - who is good?

Postby elrotundamundo » Fri Feb 15, 2013 1:09 pm

My son has my dad's old 1946 Field Grade Model 12 and it has worn to the point of incomplete lockup and occasional fail to fire. He wants to send it to someone with lots of Model 12 experience, knowledge, and concern for quality for a complete overhaul. He is not concerned with price, just that he gets quality work. Has anybody had personal experience with a good company or person that can do a really outstanding job?

Nu-Line Guns is THE authority on refurbishing a Win Model 12. Go to Nulineguns.com and you will find all the info you need. They are great. I have used them a couple of times for my Model 12 and my Model 101. John

Wow! I frankly didn't know you could wear out a Model 12! Must have been a bunch of shells through that old boy!

The best Model 12 repair/restoration person is Stu Wright (Wright's Gunsmithing) in Pinkneyville, Illionis. He is known as "Mr. Model 12". The next best would Simmons Gun Specialties. Nu-Line would be a distant third. If you are in doubt check on Trapshooters.com and see who they use for their trap guns. Either Wright or Simmons. Stu is also a master at working/updating Super X1's.
