Winchester Super X2 - ended up with an extra hairpin cotter

Postby Anas rubripes » Mon Oct 07, 2013 6:13 am

Guys, I could really use some help. Duck season starts Saturday.

I took my X2 apart this weekend to give it a good cleaning and oiling before the opening weekend. I just broke it down into the major components, nothing over zealous. As I was blowing the crud out of the trigger assembly, I noticed an extra cotter pin laying in the trigger assembly. And I hadn't taken any of this apart. I looked all over the trigger assembly and I can't find a hole that receives this pin.

I found this exploded view: http://www.gunpartscorp.com/Manufacturers/Winchester-33573/Shotguns-42603/SuperX2-41831.htm. In the exploded view, there are two of these small hairpin cotter pins in the gun; items #19 and #22. On my gun, #22 is in place. I had never noticed #19, and I can't see anywhere that this pin would go.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Yep, pull the trigger group and look for a tiny slot inside the receiver where that pin is. It's a little tricky to put back in. I try to get it in the groove and the push it onto the pin with a dulled razor blade.

it is inside the receiver and not real easy to see but pretty to put back in.

Guys, I can't thank you enough. Got it fixed and she ran well this weekend. Even with the picture it was still tricky, but it was a life saver. Thanks again!
