Nova Light Strike

I have a benelli nova 12ga that has some light striking firing pin issues. The shell will click, have a light depression on the primer, but not fire. Is this a spring issue? Doesn't happen every time but it seems to be more often now. Shot 75 rounds Saturday and clicked 4 shells.

It's easy to remove the firing pin with no tools required.
I have fixed several guns with the same issue, usually the firing pin was gummed up with dirt or excessive oil. The firing pin is chrome plated and does not need oil for rust protection, but the hole in the bolt where the pin resides does. Go as light as possible on the oil on the bolt hole.

Make sure you inspect the firing pen to maker sure it isn't damaged. If that doesn't work you can pick up a new spring for like 3-5 bucks off of brownells, or benelli will send you one.

Mine would do this no matter what I tried when using Remington "sportsman" steel. Would function with any other round except these, always had a nice primer hit but no bang. I could take the same dented primer round and fire it again and most of the time it would go off. I sold mine and bought an Escort pump, not because of the issue with Remington ammo but due to the safety position.

Well I got a new spring. Only put 4 rounds through it to see how the primers looked. The primers were about the same but the shots did fire. However, I noticed this new spring was a little longer than the old one. I don't think my gun is fixed because the firing pin still looks to be hitting light... Any other suggestions?
