What to do about ALEC?

Postby dudejcb » Sun Jun 30, 2013 11:27 am

The pendulum, if you will, continues to swinging to it's right-most zenith point in history to become the polar opposite, of greater force, of where the liberal movement went amok in its hey day, but with the help of ALEC it is poised to be far more pervasive and harmful. And we know how power corrupts.

Americans, DHC progressives and conservatives, believe in individual freedom to succeed based on one's initiative and enterprise, free of undue negative influence/damage imposed by other interests. I believe most progressives agree that in the past, in certain instances, the "pendulum" had swing too far and high to the left and was unsustainable when the economy shifted hard towards WAll Street's benefit. However, for the most part, the rise of unions and other causes in policy and law happened organically over a very long 50+ year period of economic expansion that benefited the majority of individuals and society in one way or another. Certainly it had many warts and those who gamed the systems, but that is more a human issue than progressive vs. conservative issue.

ALEC is different. ALEC is not organic. ALEC is an scheme specifically designed and implemented to benefit the conservative ruling class. ALEC is going for the jugular on several fronts and similar to the Patriot Act, in some ways seems attractive, but is fraught with dangerous (perhaps unanticipated) consequences for all Americans. The intended consequences are bad enough in and of themselves for freedom.

Unless you are a corporate officer there isn't much in ALEC for you. They simply push conservatism in spirit to gain support but it's all about profit above all. Basically, it's your government for sale.

I don't have near the issue with ALEC as I do the legislators and uneducated citizens that vote for them.

This is just a new form of the same old bs.

It's ALEC members, disciples, and minions implementing ALEC's agendas at the state level in all states and gain broad national change. Bad change if you like the outdoors and can't afford your own private hunting properties/leases.

It's a protected form of the same old bs and it's not going to go away.

There are no "citizen's unions" that operate with the protection of the proletariate in mind. Our congress it supposed to to operate as such, but they are as bought as a 3 dollar gin whore.

When no politician currently serving has not taken money from the top 1% to be (re)elected. You know who owns your government.

It's not Johnny Lunchbucket that has one vote and a mortgage payment. And it's not you.

Its called common sense; in your case a nickel bag would not make a dent and judging from your posts, Im afraid you would have no clue where to score some.

Our govt. is a lot like the club my friends and I formed as kids.
The rules were easy, electing president and vp was easy too.
During the election for the treasurers office...chaos ensued well before any dues were paid.
Could never agree on treasurer.

Who is the treasurer for this country?
Federal Reserve System?
We messed up bad when we got off gold standard and started paying bills with printed money.
Inflation. Bad thing. Huge hidden tax that we all accept blindly.
Unions didnt kill Amercia, the banks did. The body is on life support.
Soon the plug gets pulled.
ALEC cant stop it but will make it worse for most. Better for some.
INTERNET CREDIBILITY is...an OXYMORON. :moon:
