EBT glitch? Nahh. Not the only 'glitch" in town-

PORTLAND --In Oregon, federal workers who applied for and received state unemployment during the shutdown will not have to pay that money back even though they’ll also get back pay.

There are roughly 27,000 federal employees in Oregon with many of them returning to work Thursday for the first time since the government shutdown on Oct. 1.

The state employment department says roughly 4,400 federal employees in the state applied for unemployment during that time and the state is still working to calculate the total dollar amount that will be paid out to the furloughed workers.

A spokesperson for the employment department said federal employees won’t have to repay their state unemployment because there was never any guarantee furloughed workers would get back pay after the shutdown

That's as good a reason as I've ever seen for someone to keep money they didn't earn.
I'm sooo glad to see folks looking out for others

No mention of pro rated back pay.

Tax dollars at work boyz :grooving: :hi:

This is ridiculous. It should be one or the other and the federal government should force them to choose. If you want the back pay, fork over the unemployment that you got. If you don't want that, you can keep your unemployment and forfeit the back pay.

It should be like jury duty. If I get called, I get paid, but I have to sign over any compensation I get. Which I was more than happy to do the one time this happened.

I have to fork over honorariums if I want to get paid when I do that kind of thing for the lab. You can pick one, but not both. It's just common sense.

You don't really expect a government that is feeding millions of welfare slugs with your money to make their employees be responsible do you?

The states should hammer them. Straight from the Department of Labor:

What will happen if Federal employees are paid
for time during the shutdown period?

Should an appropriation or continuing resolution
occur that retroactively provides for the payment of
salary, state and Federal UI laws governing benefit
overpayments will need to be applied to those weeks
in which benefits were paid.

Just give them the back pay minus what they collected, seems like a fairly simple solution
How's my spelling WTN10
