Bird Conservancy Slams Obama for Wind Farm Eagle Deaths

The American Bird Conservancy, one of America's top bird conservation groups, intends to sue the Obama administration for allowing wind energy companies to kill eagles without prosecution thanks to a federal permit.

The group contends that Obama's Department of the Interior "violated federal laws when it promulgated the regulation it says sanctions the killing of bald and golden eagles."

"The rule lacks a firm foundation in scientific justification and was generated without the benefit of a full assessment of its impacts on eagle populations,” said Michael Hutchins, National Coordinator of ABC's Bird Smart Wind Energy Campaign.

They also contend that the current situation "undermines the nation’s longstanding commitment to conservation of eagles—unique animals that are ‘ubiquitous in U.S. culture" and violates the National Environmental Policy Act, the Endangered Species Act, and the Bald and Golden Eagle Protection Act.

The American Bird Conservancy, or "ABC will pursue legal action to address these violations and ensure that eagles, and the millions of Americans who enjoy them, obtain the legal protections to which they are entitled under U.S. law," the organization's notice read.

This last duck season we had a big bald eagle choose our club as his favorite hunting grounds. You want to see a 100 acre pond erupt with ducks that will never return? Watch a bald eagle fly over it. :lol3:

Cooler yet is the video where the little mongolian kis rappels down a cliff and snatches a little golden eagle fluffball from the nest to train for hunting.

We love seeing the Bald Eagles come by during a low wind day on the Columbia. The ducks get up and push off the mid river rafts. We normally get some good shooting shortly after. Toss in that any cripples we lose get picked off quickly and you have a great deal working with the eagles. There is a pair of Goldens in an area I coyote hunt. I always get at least one close flyby during dying rabbit sequences. It is really cool having them that close.

When dealing with "green" energy, endangered species can either be clubbed to death by a windmill or vaporized on a mirror farm. :sarcmark:

John Wayne's real name was Marion, and everybody knows that's Russian for Comunist Son.

And they called Reagan "The Gipper", which if you knew anything about Pig Latin, you would know that so obviously meant "the Syckle"... As in hammer and sickle... As in he was working for the KGB...

I can't believe I have to point those things out... :hammer:
