Legalize them all! :evilbanana:
If we're adult enough to be trusted with guns, shouldn't we be treated as adults enough to make our own decisions about things that can hurt us?
I've lived in a country where prostitution was legal and marijuana was decriminalized to the point where you'd have to try pretty hard to get arrested for it, and people seemed to do pretty well with making their own decisions and not going crazy. Society was still intact. For a country with great guaranteed social freedoms, America has a pretty puritan mentality about many things, which is fine by me when it's a person's own idea about how they should live their life, but I really resent being told how to live mine.

PS, I don't do drugs, have never visited a prostitute, don't smoke, can't afford to gamble, and don't get drunk more than once a month or so.

Prostitution: should be legalized, Tax revenues could be collected. The operating environment could be regulated, Prostitutes could be checked for health standards. It would make the entire practice, safer, more sanitary, and economically beneficial to the government. This practice has been going on for centuries, maybe even longer, so it will never go away. Making it illegal just clogs up the court systems.

Drugs: Should be legalized to a certain degree, I think it would take alot of the mystique out of it, and therefore lure less people into that particular lifestyle. Drugs like pot, hash, and mushrooms especially should be legalized since they often grow wild anyway.
Cocaine, heroin, LSD, opiates, that's tough to call. But it seems like there would be less crime, especially violent crime if these drugs were regulated and decriminalized. Most drug crimes are not the result of some drugged up junkie, most of the horrible drug crimes are committed by the dealers, so if he dealers were regulated by the governmen t, and a set of ules implemented, again the government could benefit from tax dollars, and the court systms could be freed up for more important crimes.

Alcohol: Same as above, the prohibition era with that nutty chick Carry Nation demonstrated what outlawing booze does for us. It breeds crime, especially organized crime. and personally I find booze to be far more destructive to a persons quality of life that pot. If my kid was giving me the option, either they start drinking, or start smoking pot, I'd choose pot any day of the week.

Tobacco: Kills more people per year and burdens our medical system more than any one substance, but again outlawing it will do very little other than create more black market economies.

Gambling: Hey, if you want to blow your paycheck at the craps table then do it up.
I think all of the above mentioned is best governed by Darwins Theory than anything else. Those that partake in these activities in excess will eventually breed themselves out of existance if given the chance or would in fact become a lesser breed of human given enough time.

what captain said! Is this a free country or not? I'd much rather smoke pot than drink alchohol... but the consequences are a bit severe.

Don't read into it too much. Out of everything I listed, that one would be the attention grabber. Got your attention didn't it?

Prostitution is legal in MOST of Neveda but not Las Vegas or other major cities. Correct me if I'm wrong.

I think I saw that soiled doves were allowed in Deadwood, SD when they started up the tourist industry a few years ago with casinos and such. Nevada has prostitution in counties with less than 400,000 residents, so no Las Vegas. RI permits it but no pimps or street solicitation. Never heard it being legal in TX. At least not since the early 1900's.

My buddy lives outside of Vegas and told me they had legalized it, but I think he did say it wasn't actually in Vegas. I think you're right.

It's legal in TX. Look up the Chicken Ranch. I think that's what it's called. We had a debate on it in Speech class in college last semmester.

Two Chicken Ranches, one in TX that had operated since the 1800's and was closed down in the 1970's because it was illegal, that Dolly Parton/Burt Reynolds movie was based on that. It's now a restaurant. Then there is the one in Nevada that's legal.
Hey, you never know when this kind of trivia will come in handy.
