Now do you believe this is right to give the boy charges? i mean yes he was underage drinking but holding the kid at gun point and threatening ot kill his mother as well that not right.

no.
here's the part that really sucks: the kid almost certainly learned it from his old man, who was almost certainly sloshed while this was happening. keep an eye on that news channel. in a few months it'll come back that the charges were dismissed. the kid was totally justified in pulling the trigger, and is lucky that the first shot hit true and killed him. otherwise im sure that sack of crap would have shot the kid.
we dont put up with that kinda bullcrap here in the dirty south.

the kid was justified in the shooting, no doubt. i'm not sure but i think if you're involved in a defense shooting, even in your own home, you can expect to be arrested for it, at least until they sort things out. if i'm wrong someone please correct me on this, this is just what i would expect in these situations.

I've seen self defense shootings where the home owner wasn't arrested, but the report was forwarded to the prosecuting attorney to determine if the shooting was justified and if any charges should be filed. More than likely they will send it to a grand jury once the investigation is done and let the grand jury decide. I still believe it is better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6.
