mossburg model 88 pump 12

Postby whaknstak » Wed Mar 30, 2011 9:29 pm

Just saw a black synthetic new 12 gage pump for $187 brand new. It almost sounds to good to be true. I would have it for nothing more than a home defense scattergun. My question would be is this really too good to be true. any knowledge or experience with this fire arm?

I have one I've put about 1o boxes of ammo through it. Only problem is when you dont push a shell into the tube far enough it'll drop the shell on the ground.

My Lt. At work bought one last year and swears by it according to home it shoots better than the 500 and 870. His son I say is crazy sold his nova and bought one and is just as in love. They don't duck hint but they run deer dogs in the swamps around here so they get beat up but still seem to function. I would never sell my nova but I guess they are happy with the decision

The maveric 88 was my first duck gun and now it sits next to my bed (with an 18.5 inch barrel). I've put thousands of rounds through it over the past 12 years, and it goes boom every time. I got my $ 125.00 worth out of it.

My first shotgun was a Mossberg Model 88 "Maverick". I bout it 17years ago for $150. I still have it and shoot it during deer season. I bought a rifled barrel and scope for it. I can drop deer at 100yds, probably farther if I tried. It really likes the Federal 3/4 oz Barnes copper solids 1900fps.

I shoot it duck hunting occasionally, but it usually stays in the safe until deer season rolls around.

It doesn't like cheap shells, Remington Sportsman's or Winchester Xperts.

Good luck, I would say buy it.
