Substitute Alarm-Security System

i recall an email from awhile back that suggested that if you have a lock remote, keeping your car keys close by, and activating the horn sound button in response to an intruder in the event you have no installed security system.

idk much about alarm systems but we use to have a German Sheppard and he would bark every time someone came in the yard

I actually work in the security field and don't think there is any substitute for an alarm. When people hear the tone of a burglar alarm they pay attention (even if they don't, the police are in route). Car alarms go odd all the time and get ignores. It WOULD be better than nothing though.
