Dog vest question

Postby caduckgunner » Tue Oct 18, 2005 9:40 am

What is the best way to get your dog used wearing a vest. My springer could care less, but my lab can't stant it. She just sits there and doesn't want to move. She has look on her face like i'm killing her. She won't even chace her favorite toy. And advice? Thanks. :help:

Ive never had that problem, mine loves hers.
Maybe try waiting till she is good and cold one day and slip it on her and let her sit with it on in the boat? try it...

Just keep putting it on for a few minutes at a time - before walks and play - he'll get use to it.

I would think it is much like collar conditioning. The first step there is to let the dog just wear the collar around getting used to it being there.
Do the same with a vest. Maybe at first even try putting a leash on the dog and taking it for a walk wearing the vest.
Put the vest on the dog while it is laying around the house where you can keep an eye on him so that he doesnt eat his way out of it.
