I own two shorthairs. Like others have mentioned, the only draw back with them, is the temps that you hunt in.
I don't want to hear a bunch of lab guys crying over this comment, but I truly believe that the pointing breeds have better noses than labs. This is a huge benefit when going after crips in the the marsh. My older female can track a duck without a problem through lilly pads.
