a good day

Postby harvey1b » Tue Dec 06, 2005 2:31 pm

I took my dog out goose hunting over the weekend and it went really well. We had a flock of ~12 fly right by. She was steady while 3 of us unloaded our guns on 'em. When I released her she started the round up with a 40 yd water retrieve on a wounded bird. She ended up making 4 retreives all large birds (11+ pounds). This was her second goose hunt, first around water. I wasn't sure how she would do but was pretty proud and just wanted to share.

CONGRATS on the honkers!!!
The way i look at it if i shoot a bird and my dog brings it ack, i don't gotta start the boat of take off running after it THAN THEY DID THEIR JOB!!
Hope you have many more hunts that are productive with the dog CHEERS

Nice to hear about a dog doing that well. Sounds like a great dog.

I live in NY as well right down the NY State T-way. We have done well on geese this year too.
Conserve game hunt with a trained retriever!
