Homemade dog box

Postby brock2013 » Tue Aug 20, 2013 8:46 pm

I'm about to build a dog box and was wondering what you guys think. I'm planning on using 16ga sheet metal, Steel not aluminum. I know it will be a little heavier but I'm not concerned about that. Will this be fine? I plan on lining it with foam board insulation with vents on the sides and the door and also putting a 12v fan inside. Is there anything else I should add or do?

Stainless or just sheet metal steel? If it's not stainless, you'll need to coat it or it'll rust something terrible. Are you planning on covering the foam? If not the dog or later puppy will shred it during boredom in the kennel. I assume this is for the truck?

Yeah for a truck. I'm not worried about the weight. It will stay ony truck most of the time and plus I have a flatbed so it will be a little easier to load. Is there anything better to use as insulation or do I need it at all?

And it's gonna be sheet metal but I plan on giving it a good paint job to keep from rusting
