There have been multiple threads posted on that video since 2011.

Seems like they could have encouraged the dog to land to the left of the rock for safety reasons.

Living in Huntington Beach I take my Golden retriever to dog beach weekly and the waves and chop in the video are manageable to most dogs as they learn to time the waves as a surfer would. Now if there were a strong side current no way would I let my dog out in the water near those rocks.

A beach that allows dogs? They shoot the owner first then the dog here in Virginia.
