New Chessie Cooper

Postby mdycrk » Wed Jul 02, 2014 2:28 pm

I'm sure the breeder thinks I've been wearing him out getting pictures, but my new hunting partner finally hit the ground 2 weeks ago Monday.
I've gotten a few pictures along the way so I thought I'd stare a couple. This is my 3rd Chessie, first in a long time. I lost my other duck dog about 10 years ago now. Finally got to the point where I was ready to get another, then with the way my job is it hadn't worked out for me to have one. But I was finally able to work everything to get one.
I thought I'd share a couple pictures. I can't wait to get my hands on him.

Cooper looks up to it. Now it's all on you.

I agree 100%. I've been busy getting training material together to do the best to bring it all out in him. I'm just ready for him to get here now and get started!

Well, don't go too crazy, most of what they do the first few weeks is sleep - except when you actually want them to, of course!

Don't buy into anyone telling you Chessies need an owner with a heavy hand it simply isn't true. They are the most sensitive breed out there and are easily ruined. Best of luck with your new friend.

Thanks. This isn't my first round with Chessies. I've been around a few in my day.

Got some pictures from the breeder this weekend and he started the pups on some dry food this weekend. Seems like everybody seems to be doing good on it so far!

White.

You need white bumpers, since dogs can't distinguish reds from greens.

We Humans can see orange in contrast to a green background (except for red/green color blind folks like swampbilly), so we use orange bumpers when we need to see them, and don't want the dog to.

However, you always want a pup to see the bumper, so you always want to use white ones with a puppy.
