Mucho dinero extorted from BP is hitting the state and local governments. A very small percentage will actually be used to improve the environment, returning and enhancing the flora so the fauna can thrive. Most of the money will be distributed onshore where the oil did not touch, after administrative costs, of course. I was hoping in Mississippi the offshore grass beds would be restored and protected. Some grass species are gone from our waters, not however from the oil but from a hundred years of dragging nets through them. It shows in the shrimp landing tonnage. The fishermen and processors will be paid well, but look how long they had to wait for compensation (although some made out well leasing their boats to the cleanup). Burns my butt that any is going to "Business Development".
