How To: Modified Scissor Blind

Postby Ichabod97 » Wed Jul 18, 2012 2:07 pm

I had this posted once before in the Boats section, but i figured i would post it up here as well to help out the many that are interested in building their own blind.

Here is a power point presentation i have been working on for anyone who is interested in building their own boat blind. I have posted a link below where the presentation can be downloaded from mediafire. Below are also some pics of the completed blind on the original 1436 jon boat, and retrofitted on my 1752 Phowler. Please feel free to PM or email me any questions you have on the construction. I know the presentation may not be the best, and measurements will vary for each boat. Also open to any feedback or ideas on how to improve the design. Thanks again.

I have had this PPT saved on my desktop since last season. I have already ordered the stuff to copy a lot of yours. Now, I'm just waiting on the time to do it. Good stuff...

It doesn't take all that long to build. You should be able to get the blind frame built in a couple hours. What seemed to take the longest was putting on the camo material and the raffia. Overall i think i had a couple weekends of a couple hours at a time into the build. Good luck with it! Post pics when you are done so we can see how it turns out.

And that goes to anyone who has built this blind...please post up pics. Would be nice to see how yours turned out and how you modified it to fit your needs.

Looking at this now. Appreciate all the effort.

Can you give me an estimated cost on the 14' version?

Camo is going to be your most expensive part. If you opt to not use stainless steel hardware, you will save some money as well. I do believe I had less than $275 in the whole blind. Less than $100 in all the hardware.
