marking snags

Postby lostpup » Thu Jul 26, 2012 11:42 am

We hunt a river alot. When the water is low this time of year we tie 4' of rope to a Tide laundry jug and tie to logs in the middle of the river. Everyone knows to avoid jugs as the comerical fisherman mark their nets with them. The orange jug shows up well off of a spot light and the jug will float up and down with the river. If water is covering jug we know snag is low enough to motor over.

I use a 12" piece of a pool noodle rather than a jug. People around here just can't help themselves from shooting at a floating jug.

I ran into that till I caught one and they thought I was going to run them over, ( had full intentions ) We had a heart to heart talk and I explained why they were there. The word got around and have not had any trouble since. I like the noodle idea as well :clapping:
