Swing Seats

Postby pete/pmr » Sun Jul 29, 2012 7:38 am

I also make a swing seat that can be used almost anywhere a conventional treestand or bucket will not work! All it is made of is a 2x6,or 2x8,and you drill 4 holes in it spaced evenly, two holes on each end, then you run a length of rope down thru one hole ,up thru the hole on the same end,the board can be 24" long, after that it gets alittle tippy, now you have a "U" shape on one end, repeat on the other end, then wrap the extra rope around the board and place in gear bag, once you get to your hunting area, you simply tie the ends to a tree on either side and sit,I have used ratchet straps on occations where the distance was too far to tie off to the trees and just ran it across and tightened it as best I could! Depending on the type of rope you use ,you may need to replace it after a few years or make a new one,but for the price,it is so cheap!

P.S. I have also used a full lenght of rope to run thru the holes around a tree back thru holes on other side to tree when the distance was farther apart than 4ft!

CGH, as I understood him he is talking about suspending a board between two trees that you can sit on like a swing. Two holes on either end of the board so you can run a rope through each side and then back around a tree, leaving the board dangling between them.
