In search of a light bar.. HELP!!

Postby Penguine » Wed Nov 09, 2005 3:06 pm

Ok folks, I am wanting to add some off road lights to the roof of my 96 Ford Explorer XLT 4-door. I have looked and looked and looked and can not seem to locate one. I have checked JC Whitney, Napa, AutoZone, etc. Perhaps I am calling it by the wrong name but I am at a loss. Here is what I am looking for, I assume it to be called a Light Bar, but I could be wrong:

a bar that goes across the top of the truck that you can connect 2-4 KC Daylights to it.

Any help?

Thanks!!

Kinda like a roll bar but not. It will be a bar that bolts between the doors over the roof and to it you mount the lights.

An explorer is not a pickup, a roll bar won't work.

You have cargo rails up there? You could get one of those cargo racks that mounts up top. Then you can wire lights to these, and have the extra storage. I've seen ones that attach to the factory rails and ones that bolt-on when there are no rails.

I have a cargo rack, but I think if I were to mount lights to my cargo rack that would look like some southern engineering  And I am not from the South!

Hah, no I'm talking about something like this:

You put one similar to this on, then mount the lights to the front of it. This particular one has an air dam on it, but it's the first one that I pulled up in a search. I've seen it on many vehicles and it looks good. Especially with bags of deeks in the cargo rack

What's wrong with the south
