Help us fight spam

Postby David » Wed Jul 14, 2010 8:06 am

As the season approaches and our number of visits per day increases, we become a bigger target for the spammers. To help us find and remove spam faster, it helps if you report the post. To report a post all you need to do is click on the ! to the right of the post.

You will then be sent to a report page where you can add any information you want to or just hit the submit button at the bottom.

It also helps if you do not respond to the spam post. I have a tool to remove all their posts at once, but if you respond I have to remove both posts thread by thread.
There are 10 types of people in this world, those that understand binary and those that don't.

what classifies as spam? I want to follow the rules, but I've got a product specifically designed for duck hunters that's important (because it uses iPhones/iPads to record bagged game and analyze blind performance, etc. with graphs)....but I don't want to be cut off this website if I mention it. This is a legitimate product (example: that product will be in California Waterfowl Association's (CWA) Winter magazine and compared to other smartphone technologies for duck hutners, but I want to go about letting guys on your site know about it. When I told people about it on Jessie's Outdoors, i basically got booted off....OUCH.

Anyway, let me know what the right way to go about letting folks know on a regular basis.

Sincerely,

David,

Good question. We distinctly differentiate between unsolicited spam to protect the integrity of the site for our members and Site Sponsors by which we allow quality goods and services to be advertised for the benefit of our members (and the benefit of the Sponsor).

I will call you today and we can discuss promoting your product on DHC.

Thanks for asking!

Super, Thanks for calling today. It was a pleasure to talk to you. We'll be doing business soon after I review the rate cards with my partner.
