Cabela's Dry-Plus vs. Cabela's Brush Buster Gore-Tex

Postby b-144 » Thu Jul 29, 2010 9:48 pm

Looking into getting one of these 4 in 1 jackets, wondering if anyone had any input on either, or both. Thanks for all the help.

The brush buster is probably one of the best quads on the market. The outside material is a little more heavy duty for "bustin brush". The dry plus is also an excellent jacket/parka and a little less expensive. I have 4 waterfowl parkas that I have bought over the years and the one I bought 2 years is a dry plus. I can't see any difference between the gore tex membrane and the dry plus membrane. They both keep water and wind out and breath to let moisture escape. I have used my dry plus 2 seasons now and it has kept me warm and dry in both cold and wet weather. Whether the extra $50 or $60 for the brush buster is worth it - I don't know. I don't think you can go wrong with either. One thing about Cabelas stuff is that the have the greatest return policy out there.

I've owned/test marketed every water proof membrane there is...NOTHING compares to Gore-tex! it will outlast all the rest by a long shot. remember that you get what you pay for. (i was an outdoor video guy for a call company.. we had to be sure to keep the cameras DRY) Goretex is all I trust after personal testing...

I have a Brush Buster and it's a phenomenal jacket. Downpours have never leaked a drop, very warm with a roomy comfortable fit.

Indaswamp said it! That Goretex jacket will be your best friend come winter. I actually have both jackets in question + a Cabelas P.I.T. jacket. The gortex is definately my favorite of the three, followed by the P.I.T.

I have both in different camos and lengths. My Brushbuster is a solidly built wader jacket. I rarely use the liner--the ciffs bug me. Instead,I go with with a Drake Equader underneath. But the shell is bulletproof... I too say Gore Tex is the real deal. All that said, my old Dry Plus Parka has served me well. I just don't go with the Wetlands camo so much anymore. It was a steal for $100 on eBay. In the end, I think the Brushbuster is worth the extra money, but it's a real steal at the end of the season on clearance.
