Gear sales

Postby riftraft14 » Thu Jan 03, 2013 9:25 pm

Hey, my name is Alex and this is my first year hunting waterfowl and I just joined DHC! I had a question about prices during and after the hunting season. The END of the season ENDS at the END of the month in the state Washington and I'm deciding weather to buy new decoys or wait till the season is over. It seems like once the season ends all duck hunting gear will be on sale at cabelas and other hunting stores. Is this true or am I just hoping for too much?

game warden - sir, have you ever heard of "catch and release?"
Guy - yes sir i have, but i prefer "hook and cook"

Cabelas usually has huge sales that start around 2 months before Christmas. You can get used ones after season for a good price too.

I would if I were you. I only buy decoys and other gear when they are sale. You save a lot of $ that way.

Most of my purchased are made "Off Season" but it can be a crap shoot for variety. Many places will be looking at reducing their inventories now and you won't get caught up in the price hikes that will likely effect the new stock for next fall. Most places have a pre season sale but these sales often are little more than the previous years regular prices. The past 3-4 years I have noticed that goose decoys have taken about a $10 jump each year and duck decoys take about a $5 jump.

I agree. You can get some good bargains in the post-season, but not always on the "good stuff"; the good stuff is sold out.
when to buy is a gamble.

I got 3 dozen dakota mallards from there for $119.99 on sale per dozen, also g&h and ghg were on sale there. I was going to get a few more dozens of g&h from em on sale but decided to go with dakota. This was in november. They had a huge waterfowl sale all decoys, calls, clothes and gear were 10-30% off.

Search online not in store, the good sales happen on the websites.
