Filson

Postby TXducksanddeer » Sat Jun 08, 2013 1:11 pm

I've been thinking about getting a filson mackinaw cruiser in green or brown for deer and duck hunting. Anybody got any experience with filson wool hunting? Is wool worth the price?

Filson's wool is top notch. I bought one of their camo wool vests and one of their waterfowl hats and have been very happy with their warmth. Just don't expect the same level of water resistance as you would with more modern materials.

Yeah, I think I'm going to buy it. I can always put a gore tex rain jacket over it anyways if its really wet.

When it's cold and raining pretty steady, I guess it's worth about the price of a nice Cabela's 4-in-1.

Filson stuff is worth every penny. I have their wildfowler hat and one of their vests, it doesn't rain much where I hunt but they are bombproof in snow and cold.

I live in texas so it doesn't rain as much as some other states. Also I don't really think I'm going to hunt in pouring down rain much anyways.
