Spotlights, whatcha got?

Postby talltimber » Mon Jun 24, 2013 9:04 am

I'm shopping for one. A good one, but always trying to get the most bang for my buck. Looking at hid, or a big halogen. Models that have caught my eye are the Larson HL85, Lightforce 140 and 170. Looked at the 240 but it costs a little more than I'm willing to spend I think. If someone had personal experience with it, or I could get my hands on one and see it in person I might go ahead, but otherwise I doubt it. What are you using for running, jugging, hunting?

Check out this one.
Stanley SL5W09 5 Watt LED Spotlight

I have seen them at walmart and never even crossed my mind but hunted with a guy who used one and I though it was awesome. It is small and rechargeable. I think they last 3 or 4 hours on a charge. I figure that is pretty good. The other spotlight I use is Cyclops CYC-9WS Thor-by-Sirius 9-Watt Rechargeable LED Spotlight it is pretty good but need a plugin in your boat to use it. Both are super powerful.

Thanks. I have been reading about the LEDs. I've only saw one in operation, it may be the one you mentioned. Buddy has it. It actually does pretty good for its size, but the charge doesn't last long.
I'll have 12or 24v available. Looking for something without all the weight of a battery and transformer in the head unit. Too heavy.

I used a Streamlight Waypoint last season and was very pleased. It's not the brightest out there, but it uses C cell batteries (which lasted forever) and was plenty bright for my needs. Kinda pricey though, $70.

We have a Larson. I forget which model. But it works great. We use it to shoot deer at night out of the crop fields.

I always use one that plugs into a 12volt outlet. I can't stand the rechargeable ones. They always die too soon.

I picked up a Stanley Halogen spotlight from Walmart for $15, complete with headlamp. For the money, it's at least as good as the $50+ jobs.
