I've been trying to watch for cold fronts to come thru Texas and was having a hard time finding an easy way to see when one is coming. I have a good radar map app for severe weather and the weather channel one that does a good job with basic weather prediction, but neither shows fronts. I know all you duck hunters are part time meteroligist so what apps or web sites are you guys using?
The evening news will typically show fronts/ high and low pressure. So I amagine a local weather channel website would serve you well. Or maybe the farmers almanac
noaa has a bunch. I just have the simple radar version for quick views of precip and forecasts. You might find something. I agree that nothing beats watching a local forecast map for oncoming fronts.
I have several weather apps on my phone but use Weather Bug 99% of the time. It has an excellent radar, shows hourly forecasts and has a details tab for sunrise/sunset, wind speed/direction and dew point & wind chill.
Good tip guys, I have been using Accuweather and while it is nice it does not have all the features I was looking for. The bug looks pretty good and I will start to use that as well. Here we need it to check the weather before we head out fishing or crabbing as well as duck hunting.
The problem is exactly that. We are dependent on weather apps, which many are unscientifical predictions when is comes to certain forecasting. Watching local weather for low pressure fronts isn't conducive. You are behind the eight ball if you watch local weather for migration fronts.
